I'm planning on using this space to write about my thoughts on God and religion in general, and Christianity in particular. Unlike my other blog (detritus) which is a random sample of the garbage floating inside of my head, I'll try to confine my thoughts to serious things.
I don't know it all (shocking, I know), and humility and skepticism make strange bedfellows. Nevertheless, I will make every attempt to be honest and forthright. If I state an opinion, I sincerely mean it, even though it may be incorrect.
I've thought about doing this for a long time now, and it's finally time to get off my ass and Just Do It™. I'll start off with a multi-part collection of thoughts about Velvet Elvis, a Rob Bell's popular (as of this writing #2 in Amazon's Christian Living/Faith category) book. I'll admit that I'm taking a somewhat adversarial stance from the get-go, firstly because that's what Bell's back cover invites me to do:
Test it. Probe it. Do that to this book.
and secondly, because this is Thoughts from a Skeptical Christian, not Thoughts from an Agreeable Christian.
Lastly, I don't really expect anyone else to read what I've written, but if you end up here, you're more than welcome to critique, comment, and add to the discussion.

Thanks for your comment on my blog, Micah...yes, I would love non-fiction recommendations. Have you read Keller's REASON FOR GOD? He was in Portland promoting his book. Would love to know your thoughts on it. It was #7 on the NYT bestseller list (not sure now).
Hello from all the Littles in Portland!
